Asad Alam says, anti-crisis measures taken by Armenia efficient
“Impact of the global crisis on Armenia; short-term and long-term perspectives” two-day international forum has kicked off in Yerevan Tuesday. The World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus Asad Alam said during the forum that the anti-crisis measures taken by Armenia are of great significance and strictly efficient since they aim at decreasing the loss of the workplaces and real attempt is made to support the vulnerable layers of the society.
“The family benefit program in Armenia is the best in the region and is even considered beneficial in terms of similar programs implemented in the developing countries, though it is small in scales,” A. Alam said.
Among the forum top agenda issues have been included the impact of the global crisis on the developing economies, the role of the bilateral and multilateral international institutions in the process of mitigating the crisis impact, the impact of the crisis on different spheres of the Armenian economy, anti-crisis policy and others.
