Armenia’s Constitution works effectively, says President

Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan issued Monday a congratulatory message on occasion of the Day of Constitution which is being marked in Armenia on July 5.

“Referendums set to vote for Constitution and constitutional reforms have showed a clear position of our nation in relation to what kind of state we want to build and from what values and principles stand,” said in the message.

“Our choice was deeply realized: the basic constitutional values not only fit in our national identity and traditions, but are universal and those of current interest.

“For the past 15 years we, unluckily, implemented not all those goals and ideals which were enshrined in the document; and we will meet serious matters especially on our way towards social and legislative state; however, there is the most obvious thing that the Basic Law of Republic of Armenia works and it works effectively.

“The Constitution is our formula of social harmony. Today, and always, our goal is to follow steadily Constitution’s letter and spirit and to make the priority of law a way of living. And only through this we will reach the goals which we set 15 years ago for ourselves and our children,” said President Sargsyan.
