Meeting of Presidents of Lebanon, Turkey, Iran, Syria cancelled
The summit of Presidents of Lebanon, Turkey, Iran, and Syria scheduled to start today in Beirut has been cancelled. The reason of cancellation was not reported. According to Echo Moskvi, it is not excluded that the summit was cancelled due to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s Beirut speech.
Iranian President addressing a massive rally Thursday in Lebanon promised to assist Arabs in fight against Israel saying that “Zionists are mere mortals.” Ahmadinejad proposed them returning to their “initial homeland.”
Some members of Lebanon government believe Ahmadinejad’s abrupt statements endanger Lebanon’s rating in the eyes of the global community.
