Armenian rescuers ready to travel to Japan
By Armenian President’s order, a 25-member rescue team of the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations has been prepared for traveling to Japan to participate in the rescue works after the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami in Japan on March 11. 22 out of them will visit the earthquake zone if approved by Japan, Emergency Situations Ministry reports.
The United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) team gathering was announced after the Japan earthquake.
In our region, two high-ranking officers of the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations are members of UNDAC. The Armenian officers – members of UNDAC – have expressed readiness to leave for Japan, by the instruction of the Minister of Emergency Situations.
