Grigor Amalyan to resign

Grigor Amalyan, Chairman of Armenia’s National Commission on Television and Radio, will quit the commission, with the commission’s term due to expire in April 2013, Zhoghovurd daily reports.

Amalyan told the paper that as prescribed by the Armenian Law on Television and Radio, one person cannot serve more than two consecutive terms in the commission, and therefore he will not run for third term.

“There is nothing extraordinary about that; law requires me to resign,” he is quoted as saying.
