Aysor.am starts new series “Homeland” (video)
Aysor.am has started a new project “Homeland” to present stories of people who decided to settle in the homeland.
The first character of our series is Dr. Dana Walrath who is a professor of anthropology at the University of Vermont; she is also a writer and an artist. Dana is a Diaspora Armenian, she lives and works in the US and is currently in Armenia as a Fulbright scholar, doing research and lecturing.
In the interview Dana tells us about her projects and experience in Armenia – about lecturing at the Public Health program of the American University of Armenia, working with the Institute of Ethnography, with local NGOs and local Armenian artists. Dana is also sharing her experience as a resident of Yerevan where she has lived and worked for 9 months.
Dana Walrath, PhD, MFA is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Vermont and a Women’s and Gender Studies affiliated faculty member. She has also taught at the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University. She has written on a wide range of topics related to gender in paleoanthropology, genetics, and evolutionary medicine. Her work has appeared in edited volumes and in journals such as Current Anthropology, American Anthropologist, American Journal of Physical Anthropology, and Anthropology Now.
As well, she is a co-author of a leading anthropology textbook series that is published in a variety of languages. Dr. Walrath also has a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts and has shown her art work in galleries throughout the USA.
