Agdam was liberated 20 years ago
The city of Agdam – Akna was liberated 20 years ago on July 23. Agdam’s liberation is considered one of the most important operations of the Artsakh war. Following the Shushi liberation operation, Grad rockets were fired at Stepanakert and Askeran from Agdam. Besides, a large number of arms were kept in that city. Many say that the enemy’s back was finally broken after the city of Agdam was liberated.
All the defense regions participated in the Agdam liberation operation, which began on July 4. Armenian troops entered the city on July 23.
Prior to the surrender of Agdam, the enemy destroyed numerous houses and the water supply network and cut down trees in the city.
300-400 people currently live in Agdam. They are engaged in agriculture.
