Armenia was disconnected from Iran’s power grid
The outage in Armenia earlier today occurred due to the disconnection of Armenia’s power grid from that of Iran, Aysor.am was informed by Lusine Harutyunian, spokeswoman for Energy and Natural Resources Ministry.
“On September 22 to November 16, the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant is disconnected from the power generation network, for annual scheduled repairs and refueling. During this time Armenia receives electricity from Iran. As a result of the disconnection of the two power grids, the frequency dropped to 45 Hz, causing the large-scale outage,” L. Harutyunian said.
In her words, power supply of 70% of consumers has been restored at the moment.
