Armenia doesn’t scrap plans for new nuclear power unit construction
The Armenian government approved today the program of extension of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant’s life until 2016, according to the press office of the government.
The finance minister has been instructed to take measures – by May 1, 2014 – in order to sign an agreement with the Russian government with the aim of receiving loans for the program’s implementation. Work on construction of a new nuclear power unit in Armenia will also intensify.
Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisian said at the government session that Armenia does not scrap plans for construction of a new power unit.
In his words, finding has slowed down due to the economic crisis and a number of geopolitical factors.
