Genocide facts should be included in history books, along with fascism
Chairman of the Russian State Duma Sergey Naryshkin said at the meeting with Speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly Galust Sahakyan that Armenian-Russian relations are deepening and strengthening. He expressed confidence in the development of the inter-parliamentary ties as well, according to the press service of the Armenian parliament.
Naryshkin said Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) will give impetus to the development and expansion of trade and economic links between the countries. He also underlined the importance of deepening cooperation in the international arena.
“The level of inter-parliamentary cooperation has considerably increased in recent years, while meetings at different levels and in various formats provide a new stimulus and create ample opportunities to boost inter-parliamentary cooperation,” G. Sahakyan said for his part.
In his words, Armenia’s membership in EEU will open new mutually beneficial opportunities for all the member states of the union.
Galust Sahakyan stressed the fact that the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide will be marked in 2015.
“This heinous crime must be recognized and condemned by the whole international community, which is crucial for the prevention of gravest crimes against humanity,” Sahakyan said.
According to him, an international conference entitled ‘Parliamentarians against the Genocide’ is scheduled to take place in Yerevan on April 24, 2015. Galust Sahakyan invited a delegation of the State Duma and S. Naryshkin to the event.
Sahakyan endorsed the idea that the facts related to the 1915 Armenian Genocide should be included in history books, along with fascism.
