Agreement on Armenia’s entry into EEU sent to governments of 4 countries
The final version of the agreement on Armenia’s entry into the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) has been sent to the governments of four countries, the Eurasian Economic Commission said on Wednesday, according to newsarmenia.ru.
“The final version of the agreement on Armenia’s entry into the EEU is ready and was sent to the governments of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia. In each of the four countries, procedures are being carried out for signing by the presidents of the agreement on Armenia’s joining the treaty on EEU of May 29, 2014,” the statement says.
The final decision about the signing date will be taken by the presidents of four countries, the Commission said.
It was announced earlier that the agreement on Armenia’s joining the EEU is expected to be signed in Minsk on October 10 after talks of the leaders of EEU countries. President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the August 27 briefing following the Minsk summit of the heads of Customs Union states, Ukrainian president and EU representatives that negotiations are scheduled for October 10 in Minsk, during which the issue of admission of Armenia and Kyrguzstan into the Eurasian Economic Union is to be decided.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on September 1, 2014 accepted the Russian government’s proposal to sign the agreement on Armenia’s entry into EEU.
Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan signed the treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union in Astana on May 29. The treaty will take force on January 1, 2015. Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan said on July 10 that the agreement on Armenia’s entry into EEU would be signed by late October.
