Armenian peacekeepers leave for Lebanon
A group of 32 Armenian peacekeepers was transported to Lebanon by aircraft of the Italian Armed Forces on Wednesday evening, according to the press service of Armenian Defense Ministry.
The Armenian peacekeeping unit will participate in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission and ensure the security of a UN cantonment there.
Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and Italian Ambassador to Armenia Giovanni Ricciulli attended the send-off ceremony.
Armenian servicemen have been involved in peacekeeping missions since 2004. Members of the Armenian peacekeeping brigade are currently participating in such missions in Afghanistan and Kosovo.
