Health Ministry: Family released by Azerbaijan undergoes checkups
Five family members who were handed over by Azerbaijan to Armenia through the independent mediation of the ICRC are undergoing medical examinations at Surb Grigor Lusavorich medical center.
Deputy Health Minister of Armenia Vahan Poghosyan told reporters that after medical checkups and laboratory tests, their medical states will be assessed and they will receive free treatment.
“It will take several days. Their blood samples were taken. Members of the family have different complaints; the father has heart problems, weakness,” Poghosyan said.
He stressed that all the five members of the family should undergo thorough examinations. Poghosyan found it difficult to say if traces of violence were found on their bodies.
As was reported, Azerbaijan yesterday released a family of five members who were kept in that country since 2010. The Armenian citizens were handed over in an area between Ijevan and Gazakh, through the mediation of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
