Armenian president receives Ryszard Czarnecki
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today Vice President of the European Parliament, Euronest PA Bureau member Ryszard Czarnecki, according to the presidential press service.
Welcoming the guest, Serzh Sargsyan said that such meetings provide an opportunity to discuss the prospects of developing Armenia-EU relations with Armenia’s friends from the European community.
S. Sargsyan and R. Czarnecki who is of Polish descent recalled with warmth their previous meetings and the mutual visits of Presidents of Armenia and Poland. They noted with satisfaction that Armenian-Polish interstate relations are dynamically developing. President Sargsyan stressed that Poland is Armenia’s reliable partner in the international arena, with their friendly relations being based on historical ties and common approaches to various issues. Ryszard Czarnecki said that his country understands clearly Armenia’s geopolitical situation.
The interlocutors attached importance to inter-parliamentary cooperation with the EU that is carried out within the framework of the Armenia-EU parliamentary cooperation committee and the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly. They discussed the opportunities of promoting the cooperation.
Serzh Sargsyan informed Mr Czarnecki about the Nagorno Karabakh conflict negotiations, the efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group towards a peaceful resolution, and the current problems. The president also spoke about the commemoration of the Armenian Genocide Centennial, underlining the role of parliaments in the recognition, condemnation and prevention of that crime.
