Moscow to announce completion of procedures on Armenia entry into EEU
During the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, an announcement will be made about the completion of country procedures on the ratification of the agreement about the Republic of Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), with Armenia becoming a EEU member on January 2, 2015, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti on Monday.
“The Presidents of three countries (Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus) will announce tomorrow (on Tuesday) the completion of country procedures on the ratification of the agreement on the accession of the Republic of Armenia to the EEU. Armenia will become a full member of the Union the day after it goes into effect, i.e. on January 2, 2015,” Ushakov said in a briefing.
The agreement on the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union was signed by Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan in Astana on May 29, 2014. The document takes effect on January 1, 2015. Armenia signed the agreement on October 10, 2014. The agreement on Armenia’s accession to EEU has been ratified by the parliaments of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.
