Leaders of CSTO countries issue joint statement at Kremlin summit
The leaders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states – Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan – adopted 22 documents at the summit held in the Kremlin. They approved a joint statement by the heads of state, 19 decisions and two protocols, ITAR-TASS reported.
“The statement of CSTO heads of state expresses concern over the growing danger of terrorism, the spread of extremism in Central Asia, given also the Afghan factor, and stresses the need to restore peace in Ukraine and achieve a peaceful solution to the Nagorno Karabakh problem, i.e. it indicates the positions on the main regional issues,” the Russian president’s aide Yuri Ushakov said earlier when commenting on the draft document.
As for other documents, he pointed out the decision of the CSTO council on the inspection of the readiness of the CSTO rapid response forces to perform tasks, the decision of the council of the CSTO Collective Air Forces, the decision of the council on the anti-drug strategy of the CSTO member states, and the decision of the council on the action plan to implement the main directions to develop the subject of collective response to emergencies.
