Is world crisis threat for Armenia?
No further steps have been foreseen by either 2009 state budget of Armenia or by any other document to withstand the world crisis. No steps with regard to tax policy are being taken, small and medium businesses are not protected in any way, declared the representative of Armenian national congress, the former mayor of Yerevan Vahagn Khachatryan.
Doing analysis about the world economic crisis and its consequences threatening Armenia, he said that pessimistic are the economic developments expected in Armenia in 2009. He is convinced that the Armenian authorities think, Armenia will not be affected by world crisis because financial system of Armenia is not integrated to the world financial system, economy is very small, and reserve fund is enough to withstand the crisis.
As a method to fight against crisis, the ANC representative suggests following the example of Russia and decreasing VAT, carrying out measures to provide development of small and medium businesses.
In V. Khachatryan’s opinion, during the recent 5-6 years as a result of the economic policy led by Armenia there is no domestic producer as the main purpose of our economic policy has been support provided for importers.
With regard to this, V. Khachatryan calls the authorities to do their best to improve the working conditions of domestic producers.
