Number of crimes decreases in CIS
The total number of crimes registered in CIS in 2008 has decreased for 11% average in each of the states as compared with 2007, reports CIS Intergovernmental Statistics Committee.
At the same time, in 2008 the number of crimes has increased for 14% in Azerbaijan, for 5% in Armenia, for 2% in Kyrgyzstan and Moldova, for 1% in Kazakhstan.
According to preliminary information of 2008, total crime decrease in Belarus makes 13%, in Russia it is 11%, in Tajikistan and Ukraine - 4%.
More than half the crimes are offences of encroachment on property. In CIS countries the index varies from 23%(Azerbaijan) to 62%(Belarus). Drug-dealing crimes make 8% of the total and grave and very grave crimes towards individuals make 2%, hooliganism - 1%.
Drug-dealing crimes in CIS make 250 thousand. The number of drug-dealing crimes has increased in Azerbaijan for 16%, and in Ukraine for 2%. The number of the abovementioned crime has decreased in Armenia for 22%, in
Belarus and Kazakhstan for 5%, in Tajikistan for 3%. In Russia and Kyrgyzstan these indexes have not changed.
