Financial crisis to cause abolition of capital punishment
Financial crisis may help US most dangerous criminals. Some US states may abolish capital punishment.
Some legal organizations have calculated that capital punishment costs 10 times as much as life sentence.
Life sentence requires about 740 thousand dollars, whereas capital punishment may cost about 1,26 million dollars. The sum includes salaries of control officers of criminals, the sums spent on special capital punishment rooms, as well as the attorneys' expenses covered by the state.
In the USA capital punishment is being implemented in 36 states. Two thirds of US population is for capital punishment. However, financial crisis appears to make the states review their attitude to the punishment.
