First Lady of Azerbaijan initiates amnesty bill
The Azerbaijanian parliament passed a bill on amnesty Tuesday initiated by First Lady of Azerbaijan and deputy of the Azerbaijani parliament Mehriban Aliyeva.
The bill envisages that 1,700 people all in all might be released from prison, above all, women who pose no threat to society, people under 18 and citizens who have adolescent or disabled children to support. The amnesty also applies to citizens sentenced to public corrective labor, citizens who were administered fines, convicted on probation or given suspended sentences.
Almost 9,000 people might be amnestied all in all, 1700 will be released.
