Russia to grant financial assistance to Abkhazia and S. Ossetia
Russia will provide 5 billion rubles in assistance to Abkhazia and South Ossetia for budget salaries, pensions, subsidies and other social expenses, Dni.ru reports.
«Despite cuts on federal budget expenses, the financial assistance scales in 2009 are on same level as foreseen,» Russia’s Finance Ministry message says.
So, 2,36 billion rubles will be allocated to Abkhazia and another 2,8 billion to South Ossetia. Additional 8,5 billion rubles will be allocated to South Ossetia’s city of Tskhinval for the reconstruction of the city after sustaining damage from the Georgian invasion in August.
