Robinho to sue Pele over drug allegations
Robinho has threatened to take Pelé, his idol, to court unless the former Brazil striker makes a formal apology for claiming that the Manchester City forward had taken drugs.
Pelé reportedly accused Robinho and Ronaldo, his fellow Brazilian and a former World Footballer of the Year, of using recreational drugs at a private party in Sao Paulo. Local media reported that Pelé told a court in Brazil, where he is appearing in a case that involves his son, Edinho, who has confessed to being addicted to cocaine, that it is unfair to talk about drugs in football because of just one or two cases, like Ronaldo and Robinho, who had that problem.
The allegation has been strenuously denied by Robinho, who has demanded that Pelé, 68, widely regarded as being the greatest player in the game's history, retract his comments or face legal action.
