FIFA to investigate coin incident at Northern Ireland-Poland game
FIFA have issued a statement indicating that they will be looking into the incident involving a match official at the Northern Ireland versus Poland game, skysports reports.
Northern Ireland's hard-fought 3-2 win over their World Cup qualifying opponents at Windsor Park, a win which put them top of Group Three, was overshadowed by a fan throwing a coin at assistant referee Stefan Wittberg during the first-half.
The official had to receive treatment for a head wound but luckily the culprit was caught and ejected from the ground at half-time.
FIFA are currently reviewing the incident in the World Cup qualifier between Northern Ireland and Poland on Saturday, where a Swedish assistant referee was hit by a coin.
FIFA received a report from match referee (Martin Hansson) as well as the match commissioner.
