Opening of borders - an alternative for freight forwarders

«I represent a sphere which would favor the opening of all the Armenian borders. The opening of Armenian-Turkish borders would make our work easier, by providing us an alternative and stabilizing the competitive field,» the Secretary General of the International Freight Association in Armenia Herbert Hambardzumyan said.

According to him, the organization deals with the road freight transport, has 300 big trucks and 25 legal entities conducting road freights have membership to the organization.

H. Hambardzumyan signified the opening of the Armenian - Turkish border since first of all, it will provide an alternative for freight forwarders in our country. Now Armenia carries out road freight transport on a single route – Yerevan-Poti-Novorosiysk-Moscow.

The organization carries out freight transport with Russia mainly, as well as with Ukraine, Belarus and a number of European countries.

The opening of borders and new routes will contribute to the enhancement of the competition, the road freight transport fees will decrease.

H. Hambardzumyan emphasized that no hindrances rise during the freight transport with Georgian authorities and the cargo may have a long stay in Georgia only because of the grave weather conditions.
