FIDE Chess: Hakobyan to play vs. Mamedyarov

As we have already informed yesterday, in Round 3 of FIDE Grand Prix tournament Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian lost to the Ukrainian player Sergey Karjakin. According to chess specialists, in this very tournament the Ukrainian player is to take a stable place in the chess upper-classes.

By now he has been considered to be a prospective player, nevertheless, the vote of trust and belief has a term of activity and Karjakin, eventually, cannot always be considered a prospective player. Obviously, he is ready to assume a new role and in his game vs. Aronian he announced he is intent to give a dare to the world’s best chess-players. Besides, he came to be known for his claim to Russian authorities to be granted Russian citizenship. Russia is ready to support the talented chess-players and it is likely that this is Karjakin’s last tournament as a Ukrainian player.

In the third round Russian Grishchuk won against Kasimjanov and took a sole lead in the tournament list. Alexeev defeated Elyanov, Leko took over Vladimir Hakobyan. Bacrot-Svidler, Mamedyarov-Kamsky, Ivanchuk-Gelfand pairs played to draw. Levon Aronian, Svidler, Alexeev, Karjakin and Leko have 2 points and rank 2-6. To end the list is Vladimir Hakobyan with 0,5 points.
