E. Azaryan: The National Institute of Standards in full activity
«The National Institute of Standards seemed to have been forgotten. Some people thought this institute has been liquidated or carries out no functions at all,» Enoq Azaryan, the Head of the Armenian National Institute of Standards told journalists at a press conference today.
According to him, the businessmen don't completely perceive the significance of this institute.
«The businessmen who are gravely concerned about the quality of their products apply to our laboratory. Those who have hesitations over the quality of their products do not apply to our laboratory since our decision will be negative. We work in terms of transparency,» Azaryan said.
«I carry the full responsibility to declare about the exceptional transparency, since I have worked this way during my whole life,» he added.
The Institute also conducts certification program.
«We have a certification block. Here certificates are provided for food and non-foodstuffs. That is to say, this is to certify the importrs has the right to sell the goods,» Azaryan noted.
If the product carries Code 001, this means the certificate has been provided by the National Institute of Standards.
«However, there are also Codes 002, 003, etc. There are 20 private authorised organizations that provide the same certificates. here I just should say that our laboratory is the best in Armenia,» he said.
Azaryan also talked on the number of organizations granted certificates annually.
«Before I was the director of the institute, about 9000 organizations were certified. Now, though the year is not over yet, this number may reach 2000 or even less,» he noted.
