Juventus set to plump for Luciano Spalletti
In less than a month, Juventus will show coach Claudio Ranieri the door and, despite flirting with Genoa boss Gian Piero Gasperini and former Bianconero Antonio Conte, the club’s powers that be are convinced that Roma tactician Luciano Spalletti is the best man for the job, according to Tuttosport, Goal.com says.
The owners have postponed any talk about Ranieri’s position until the end of the campaign, but the ex-Chelsea manager’s days seem to be numbered, with the Roman native tipped to replace Spalletti on the Giallorossi bench.
Spalletti was in line to take over from Marcello Lippi at Juve in 2004. Indeed, the current Italy boss had identified him as the ideal candidate to continue his project.
The Old Lady eventually opted for Fabio Capello and Spalletti joined Roma the following season.
But Spalletti’s reign in the Eternal City is coming to an end after failing to secure Champions League football for next season and Juve have no intention of passing up the opportunity this time around.
