Sacked Boss Claudio Ranieri to sue Juventus
Juventus fired coach Claudio Ranieri on Monday and replaced him with youth academy director Ciro Ferrara, but the ex-Chelsea boss has now started legal action against the Turin club, Goal.com reports.
«Juve general manager Jean-Claude Blanc has taken his word back, » Ranieri is quoted as saying in La Repubblica.
«Real men don’t behave like this. And, most of all, this is not Juve’s style.»
The 57-year-old has reportedly instructed his lawyer, Mattia Grassani, to sue the Old Lady. Ranieri tied himself to the club until June 2010, but a clause in his contract stated that he would be due compensation of €1.5 million if Juve decided to dismiss him.
However, the Old Lady have shown him the door but are keeping him on their payroll, meaning they will continue paying his wages until the end of his deal, unless the Roman tactician finds a new club. And even if he does, he will need to ask Juve for permission to talk to other teams.
«When we signed that contract, Blanc promised that if Juve were to become dissatisfied with my work, they would activate that clause,» explained a fuming Ranieri.
«They didn’t do it and he took his word back. I didn’t expect it. I thought certain things would not happen at Juve.»
