PM welcome message to AIBA World Junior Championship participants
AIBA World Junior Championship is due in Yerevan May 23-30. The Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan addressed a message to the Championship participants:
Dear participants and guests of the AIBA World Junior Championship Yerevan 2009,
The first World Junior Boxing Championship with the participation of leading teams and high-ranked young boxers to be held in Yerevan is a significant and momentous event for us, and the result of AIBA’s confidence towards the Republic of Armenia.
I believe that holding such a tournament in the Republic of Armenia will leave its trace not only in the history of Armenian boxing, but it will also bring a new wave of support for an increased level of participation in boxing, raise sporting traditions and help with the formation and establishment of new relations.
The ideals of fair competition, respect towards ones opponent and sport based on collaboration are excellent tools for strengthening of recognition, dialogue and friendship between our nations and communities.
For the different states and international organizations, the AIBA World Junior Boxing Championships Yerevan 2009 is an auspicious occasion to establish and deepen more close and good-neighborly relations with each other.
I am convinced that the tournament will be held in the warmest of atmospheres in spite of the fact that competition will be uncompromising and strong.
I wish a successful start to the tournament, and to the participants - fair competition and deserved victory.
