Laporta: Barcelona to sign three or four great players
Joan Laporta has revealed that Barcelona are set to hold talks with Samuel Eto'o's agent next week after receiving offers for him, while promising that the club are preparing to buy a number of new players, Goal.com says.
The Blaugrana boss expects there to be at least three or four new faces at the club for the start of next term, but refused to rule out the idea that their Cameroonian striker would be leaving.
After confirming, earlier in the week, that Barca have received bids for the forward, Laporta heaped praise on him and explained that the two sides had talks planned.
«There are offers for Eto'o,» Laporta is quoted as saying by El Mundo Deportivo. «We want to know his plans.»
«We want to treat a player well that has given us everything and I do not just mean because of his goals, but also for his attitude and his character.»
«In the key games, he has always scored and we will always be grateful.»
«Samu is a great player and there are offers for him. We have meetings with his agent lined up for next week, in which both sides can say what they would like.»
Barcelona have been linked with a host of star names such as David Villa, Javier Mascherano, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and John Arne Riise and Laporta confirmed that the club were ready to make signings.
«We will sign three or four players of the highest level to fill the positions that the coaching staff believe should be strengthened,» he continued
«We know that players want to come to Barcelona because the project is solid.»
«We want to sign players, though, for the right price. In a time of economic crisis we have to set an example.»
