Armenian-Syrian business forum gets under way in Yerevan
Armenian-Syrian business forum got under way in Yerevan today. The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and of the President of the Arab Republic of Syria, Bashar Al-Assad, as well as 118 Armenian and 65 Syrian businessmen representing different spheres of economy of two countries attended the forum.
In the frames of the forum, agreement on mutual understanding was signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Republic of Armenia and the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce.
To deliver reports on Armenian-Syrian economic relations were the president of Armenian CCI, NA deputy Martin Sargsyan, the CCI coordinator of the international relations Vladimir Amiryan, the president of Syrian federation of chambers Ghassan al-Kalaa. According to the reports, considerable decline in the goods turnover has been observed. Particularly of grave concern is slash in export, viewed year by year, which in 2008 made $90 thousand.
In the frames of the forum, also business meetings and talks including the spheres of food, tourism, textile, pharmacy, machines and equipments, chemical industry and trade have been scheduled.
According to the Armenian customs statistics, in 2008 the scales of trade turnover made $5,99 million, particularly, export being $0,09 million, import - $5,9 million, trade balance made $5,51 million.
