Opening of Armenian-Turkish border to ensure economic growth
The chairman of NA standing committee on economic affairs Vardan Ayvazyan expressed conviction that the opening of Armenian-Turkish border is inevitable. According to him, Armenia should get ready for that, since the opening of the border will ensure opportunity for growth of economic efficiency.
“The first precondition to ensure economic growth is free market. In case the border opens, the cost of our goods will shrink by 20%. The services we are provided now, are too high,” he said.
Ayvazyan stated that besides the positive effects, we will be facing risks as well. Nevertheless, he urged not to wait but to act.
Heritage faction leader Armen Martirosyan assessed the ARF work and discussion over the trade-economic issues in case the Armenian-Turkish border opens, as positive.
“The government should take these into consideration and conduct works accordingly. Today Armenia faces problems in tax and customs spheres, anyway, even in case of the ideal laws, it would be difficult to protect the economy from large-scale assault,” Martirosyan assured.
According to Prosperous Armenia representative, NA deputy Vardan Bostanjyan, the opening of Armenian-Turkish border will make Armenian economy even more vulnerable.
