Football: Christian Vieri to begin Blackburn Rovers trial
Christian Vieri could be joining Blackburn Rovers if he successfully completes a trial with them that begins on Saturday, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The deal was assisted by former Bolton player Ibrahim Ba, who suggested coach Sam Allardyce give the veteran striker a chance to prove himself.
The Premier League side are beginning their pre-season training in Austria, where Vieri will hope he can demonstrate he is in good enough physical shape to feature in England.
Should the trail prove fruitful for the former Inter man, it would be the 14th club of his storied career - which includes stops at Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Monaco, Lazio, AC Milan, and Fiorentina, among others.
The 35-year-old also featured for Italy in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups and has 23 goals in total for the national team. During the late 90's and early part of this decade, he was widely regarded as one of the most prolific forwards in football.
