Colombian football player shot dead a football fan
A Colombian football player has shot dead a football fan after he called him “worthless”. Midfielder Javier Flórez, who plays for Atletico Junior in the highest Colombian division, heard the comment as he was driving through the coastal resort of Barranquilla, according to RNW.
He stepped out of the car and shot the fan dead. At first he fled the scene, but later he turned himself into the police. The comment was based on Atletico's defeat against another club, Once Caldas de Manzinales, a week ago.
In 1994, a Colombian defender, Andres Escobar, was shot dead by a football fan after the national team played poorly in the World Cup in the United States.
