Petrol market “Quick rising-Slow falling”
Lately a price rise has been registered in the fuel market. Now the petrol kind “Super” is sold for 400 AMD per liter, “Premium” costs 370 drams, before the rise they cost 390 and 360 drams.
In the local retail market the leading company is “Flash”. Before that, the “Qagh Petrol Service” was in the leading position but it is not selling petrol any longer. A new company “City Petrol Group” appeared in the market (with the same “CPS” trade mark). “City Petrol Group” is not yet registered in the reestre of dominators.
The RA Commission of Economic Competition Defense took actions in the petrol market in June, the bases of which were the rise in the price of retail petrol sale in the petrol filling stations with “CPS” trade mark.
Armine Udumyan, the Spokeswoman of the Commission of Economic Competition Defense, informed Aysor that the commission intends to realize the analisys of the structure based on the data of the first 9 months in the petrol market; the analysis will also include the prices.
“There are also the exchange rates but we will keep silence in this matter, as there is no professional estimation given in this field. After the investigation it will become clear how well the “City Petrol Group” has occupied the market place of the “Qagh Petrol Service”,- said A. Udumyan, ensuring that the prices for petrol in Armenia rise and fall accordingly with the world-wide prices.
The attempts of Aysor.am to find out from the managers what the increasing of the fuel prices are conditioned with, met a wave of indignation.
“I will not tell you anything, and will not give any information”, - answered Mushegh Elchyan the acting director of “Flash” CJSC marketing briefly.
A person, who introduced himself as Petros Poghosyan, an employee of “City Petrol Group”, answered “The events in China and Nicaragua, Obama’s words, the actions realized by the African tribes against each other decide the prices of the petrol in the world as for the oil prices it is connected with oil products only in 20%.”
“The price of the oil product in not reduced”, - he mentioned.
Abgar Yeghoyan, the president of the Defense of Consumers’ Rights NGO said “The prices of petrol in Armenia rise very quickly, but when they fall, they fall too slowly or do not reduce at all, because they think that it will rise in two months again.”
“Quick rise and slow fall, naturally it doesn’t correspond with the interests of the consumers”, - noted A. Yeghoyan.
