The Armenian chess players go on with their confident games and occupy highest positions in the list of the International Chess Championship taking place in Abu Dhabi. Ashot Anastasyan shared the points with Roman Ovechkin, from Russia, in the eighth round. The same result was recorded with Zaven Andriasyan and Lilit Galoyan: Lilit Galoyan in the game with Ukrainian Yuri Drozdovski and Zaven Andriasyan with Latvian Edvins Kengis. Hrant Melkumyan and Hrayr Simonyan defeated their rivals. The first defeated Antonio Viani D'cunha (India), and Hrayr defeated Oldaro Adu (Nigeria).

So Ashot Anastasyan shares the positions 2-3 with Aleksei Aleksandrov (Belarus) with 6.5 points. The leader is Aleksandr Rakhmanov (Russia), having 7 points in his actives.
