Aronyan shared the 2-3rd positions with Gelfand

FIDE “Grand Prix” 5th tournament in Jermuk ended. In the last 13th round the Ukrainian Grand Master Vasilli Ivanchuk became the winner of the tournament taking victory over Vladimir Hakobyan.

Generally speaking Ivanchuk didn’t have good enough results from the previous rounds of the tournament. But in Jermuk he was changed and succeeded. In the last games he was trying to win, using all his opportunities for getting points from the leading thee man. He succeeded only on the last round as the Hungerian Peter Leko who before the 13th round together with Ivanchuk was leading with 7.5 points the tournament list, unexpectedly gave in to the representative of Israel, Boris Gelfand.

Playing with the whites Levon Aronyan took a victory over Ernesto Inarkiev and Boris Gelfand who were having success in the last rounds and shared the 2-3rd positions with 8th points.

In the other games the competitors were more peaceful.
