Online Archive of Sumgait massacre of 1980s
Armenia's Prosecutor General's Office publishes archives related to violence committed against the Armenians in the late 1980's in Azerbaijan. The archive includes materials of proceedings in criminal cases which have been investigated by USSR’s Prosecutor General's Office.
On this basis there will be created electronic resources available for studying, reports PR department of Armenian Prosecutor General's Office.
The source reports that on-line archive is creating in collaboration with NGO “Initiative for Prevention of Chauvinism” which has applied to Prosecutor General's Office for studying the facts and making notes if necessary.
“Given that these accidents are already historical facts and based on public interest was decided to create online archive and to digitize documents of crime including evidence of massacres and violence. This can be useful not only to historians, but also to politicians and society so that everyone could clearly see historical events.”
The archive does not contain all documents and cases as some of them have been sent to Azerbaijan, Russia where some number of criminals sentenced up to death.
