Gyumri-Ayrum route is expected
The winter season of South Caucasus Railways Company will begin since late October when Gyumri-Ayrum route is expected, announced at today’s press-conference SCR’s first deputy director Marat Khakov.
He also told that SCR updates its fleet: two fully renovated trains will operate since October, and scheduled changes in technology to ensure better security.
Mr. Khakov assured strong repair is carried on rail lines, which haven’t been updated last 20 years. Thus, lines of 10 kilometers length will be totally replaced and of 5 kilometers length will be repaired; 60 thousand sleepers will be replaced and increased to 117 thousand.
“Through these activities the speed is 4.2 kilometers up reaching now 50-54 km/h.”
SCR also creates a diagnostic center. For this purpose 12 professionals are going to Russia where from the necessary equipment will be brought and used for access the condition of lines without human participation.
