Armenian Open Karate Championship finds out the best athletes
Aykkikendo Karate Federation will hold Armenian Open Championship aimed at preparing the athletes for U16 European Championship in Cyprus on October 24 to 31.
180-200 representatives of all running in contact-style Federations can participate in Open Champ which includes 4 weight categories for U7 and U9 athletes; and 5 weight categories for U11 athletes.
“By involving all Federations, we had a goal to find out the best athletes who would be able to present Armenia at U16 European championship and take medals.
“Armenia’s Federations often hold their own Championships which lead to the situation when athletes can’t stand the competition.
“The more competitors are different in style, the more the possibility of victory increases,” confirmed Aykikendo Karate Federation’ president David Atanesyan in a statement released by Open Championship’s PR department.
In last year’s Cyprus European Youth Championship Armenia’s athletes seeded third in team competition, and took gold and silver in individual ones. Mr. Atanesyan expressed a confidence that in upcoming championship Armenian athletes will be able to win and take medals.
