Razdan’s fifth station – knowhow
“Razdan’s fifth station will run in 2010 July in accordance with plan,” said at today’s press-conference ArmRosgazprom’s general manager and chairman Karen Karapetyan.
“This is not a usual station, because we build and operate a 180 megawatt modern station next to old soviet-built a 300 megawatt station, and our project is that these stations to work together. This is knowhow, no one has embodied such a project before,” he said adding that there are lots of 300 megawatt stations around the world and such project’s necessity may arise, so an idea of cooperation and experience exchange can appear.
“As soon as Razdan’s fifth station runs, we will export electricity. There are preliminary agreements and we will issue details on customer countries and export volume soon.”
The fifth station will cultivate Iranian gas. It’s worth mentioning that Armenia imports 6 million cubic meters of gas from Russia and 1.7 million from Iran. Additionally, preparations for the restructuring and modernization of Razdan’s fifth station were completely finished last year and building works began.
