Armenian men’s team wins over Azerbaijan

Armenian men’s team took another step to victory with a win in the seventh round against Azerbaijan’s team at the 17th Team Chess Championship in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Levon Aronyan drew with Teimour Radjabov in 19 moves. Vladimir Hakobyan, in his turn, shared a point with Vugar Hashimov. Tigran Petrosyan earned 0.5 point in set with Shahriyar Mamedyarov. And at least Gabriel Sargsyan has begun salvaging the tournament with a good win over Gadir Huseynov.

Thus, after the round seven, Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan are top-seeded with 11 points followed by teams of Ukraine, Poland and Holland – with 10 points each. Hungary, Spain, Georgia, Switzerland, and Israel on 9 points seeded 7-11.

Today Armenian team will play against Russia. As we have already reported, both teams have 11 points, so this round will show who is closer to Champ title.

Azerbaijan will have a set against Poland.
