Georgia makes a decision to open U.Lars checkpoint
Georgia’s National Security Council held a special session Friday on U.Lars checkpoint’s opening with participation of Georgia’s President Mikhail Saakashvili.
Georgian President voiced three key reasons for the U.Lars checkpoint’s opening: A – it will provide increase in people’s income, especially, if those earned money through roadside trade and other services; B – President pointed Georgia’s status of a transit state which cannot be lost; and, at least, C – to be involved in cargo industry.
“Our country receives opportunities to transit cargo via Russia to other counties,” said Saakashvili.
After this hearing, Georgian officials made a decision to open U.Lars checkpoint.
