Today’s market demands on poor-quality wine
Wine production increased by 50% over January-June 2009, and by 15-20% from June and up to now, announced Chairman of the Armenian Winemakers Union, Avag Harutyunyan.
This year grape cost from 85 to 180 dram per kg, said Avag Harutyunyan adding that there were bought 1700 tons grape for 180 dram per kg, 60 thousand tones for 130 dram per kg, and 70 thousand tons grape for 85-95 dram per kg. When asked whether a qualitative wine is produced, Avag Harutyunyan said no, adding that today’s market demand explains this trend.
