Armenian-Latvian business relations grow
The Armenian Development Agency in collaboration with the Latvian Development and Investment Agency has organized a joint business-forum which was held today in Yerevan.
The Forum was attended by Armenia’s President Serge Sargsyan, Latvia’s President Valdis Zatlers, ministers of economy, and other officials.
Among the participants were Latvian businessmen representing more than 60 industries, including energy, engineering, transport and logistics, information technologies and communications, education, financial sphere, consulting, textile, food industries, pharmaceutical, tourism, and so on.
Presidents of Latvia and Armenia welcomed the participants and opened the Forum. Later it was continued at non-official setting. President Sargsyan said that countries have a great wish to cooperate both in political and economical spheres.
The official data registered a turnover of $ 11.232 million for 2008, of this $1.170 million is export, and $10.113 million is import. A turnover of $ 19.433 million was registered for 2004-2008, besides. Top Armenian products for export consist of alcohol, vinegar, and optics. Armenia imports via railway meat and fish, most of all.
