Small hydro-electric power station’s growth falls off
By January 1 2010, there will operate 81 small hydro-electric power stations with a total electricity generating capacity of 357 million kWh/per year, told Aysor’s correspondent head of Investment Department of the Public Service Commission of Armenia, Abgar Budaghyan.
Some 71 small hydro-electric power stations are being built now, with a total electricity generating capacity of 572 million kWh, he added. And finally, in Armenia there will operate for about 152 stations with a total electricity generating capacity of 930 million kWh.
For comparison, in 2004 only 4 stations operated, its number increased to 15 in 2007, while currently 11 stations are operating. “Nearly 10 small hydro-electric power stations open every year. This means, we can keep pace,” said Abgar Budaghyan.
133 licenses will make available building of new stations, said Abgar Budaghyan adding that in comparison with last years, this was somewhat less, as the hydro potential decreased.
