Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railroad to open in time
The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railroad will be put into operation in late 2011 as scheduled, said Azerbaijan’s Minister of Transport Ziya Mamedov, according to Sakartvelo.info Agency.
“I suppose, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railroad will be put into operation in time. Sure, if neither fortuitous developments happen. In particular, if weather doesn’t put a crimp in the process,” he said.
Currently, both in Turkey and Georgia territories the railroad is being intensively built, said the official.
The total cost of the project, that will contribute to further regional cooperation between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, is around $400 million. Besides, Azerbaijan provided a $220 million loan to Georgia.
