Prime Minister: “The officials take up business”
“The officials take up business”, - Tigran Sargsyan said today on the press conference.
According to him the problem is that there are no normative legislative bases which will give an opportunity to work with this issue and we need a political will to receive a corresponding legislation. At the same time the RA PM mentioned that the officials have the right to be owners, be shareholders in this or that companies, be complete owners of this or that business, but they do not have the right to “take up any business”.
“If we know that the official owns a business, we should create mechanisms for him not to be able to conduct that business.
Those mechanisms exist in the civil society and we should invest. The most important thing is to make the high ranked officials' activities public and to control it first of all by the public”, - mentioned T. Sargsyan.
A special body will be established for that reason, which will be responsible in front of the society in making investigations. The RA Prime Minister mentioned it will be discussed in the NA in 2010.
T. Sargsyan refused announcing the names of the businessmen officials.
