‘Headless Armenian Community is profitable to Turkey’
Headless Armenian Community is profitable to Turkey’s government, said deputy dean of Department for Oriental Studies Ruben Melkonian, a turkologist.
“Voting for co-head of the Constantinople Patriarchate has not only religious but national significance, as Armenian community applies to Patriarchate on different issues.”
Ruben Melkonian said expects the most beneficial to Turkey’s government person will be elected as co-patriarch.
Armenian Patriarch Council of Constantinople has applied to Istanbul’s governor asking for approval for voting for Co-Patriarch as Patriarch Mesrop Mutafian is seriously ill. Patriarch Mesrop Mutafian will hold post of Patriarch for term of life.
