Shaidullin: 2009 was a year of challenge in sense of safety
The South Caucasus Railway company has held council focusing on analysis of the traffic’s safety and proposing of the measures on enhancing the safety on the railway.
“2009 was a year of challenge in sense of safety. We had to work at financial and economic crisis times, at GDP’s fall in Armenia. However, we’ve managed to provide basic budgetary and qualitative road marks. The 2009 South Caucasus Railway report registers waste reduce by 20%, and reduce by 50% in special waste occasions,” said Director-General Shevket Shaidullin.
Traffic’s safety on the railways is in the country’s state interests, he said. “It’s necessary to combine state and corporate interests. High speed leads to safety’s fall, and this, in its turn, influences the system of the state safety. That is why the government must carry a responsibility for providing railway’s safety. It’s necessary to improve legal framework, and this cannot be done without government’s involvement.”
The Press Center for the South Caucasus Railway company reported that the council also discussed some other highlights, including issue of human resource management for providing railway safety. Director-General Shevket Shaidullin announced in 2010 the company will focus on developing the technical base and training methods for improving professional skills of the staff. Company’s management has awarded those of the staff who showed good results in providing safety in 2009.
